How much does a website cost?

Every business has different needs, so the cost of any given website can range widely. Final cost will depend on a number of factors including site size and technology requirements.

Budgets for very large websites requiring a lot of server side programing, development of back end content management tools or deployment of large databases will vary based on the complexity of the work required. Please contact us at 509-939-6092 if your project requires such technology.

How long does it take?

Most small websites (under 20 pages) can be completed within two weeks providing we receive all of your content before we begin. Larger, more complex sites will obviously take significantly longer depending on the features required. Medium sized ecommerce sites for instance usually require between 4-6 weeks to complete.

Can I update my own website?

Absolutely. We can provide you with back end content management support in one of two ways: either through a custom interface we develop for you or through commercially available software. In either case, we will provide you with training and initial support to get you up and running.

What materials do I need to provide?

Our standard web design contract indicates that the client provides all content related materials, including specialized graphics, photography and copy in an appropriate digital format. We will provide up to two, content appropriate stock images per page as needed. If you require additional graphics, logo design, custom photography or copywriting, we can provide that for you. Obviously this will add to the final cost of the project. All costs and fees associated with such work will be spelled out in the contract both parties sign to begin development.

What about a domain name?

We will purchase a domain for you if you do not already have one. When we purchase a domain for you, you will be listed as Registered Owner and Administrative Contact and will be responsible for renewing the domain when the time comes. This is for your protection as it makes you the legal owner of the domain and ensures you have total control over it.

Do you provide hosting?

We do not provide hosting per-say. Like the domain name issue, we find it is better to set up a hosting account for our clients under their name. This allows you to choose the hosting plan that best fits your needs. We will recommend a hosting company, but do not insist that you use them.

I already have a website, can you fix it?

Short answer: it depends. A number of factors determine whether we can update or repair existing websites. Among them are availability of source files and the type of languages and technologies used in the initial build. More often than not, when someone approaches us to rehab a website, it has been neglected for a long time and is so sorely outdated both in style and technology, that a rehab would cost more than a fresh build.

Occasionally on very large sites ( big ecommerce sites, sites utilizing large databases, etc.), the look of the site can be changed without having to recreate all of the technical infrastructure. Obviously this is more cost effective that rebuilding the entire site.
